Grandma Georgia Marburger’s Orange CookiesIngredients:
- 1 cup butter
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 eggs
- Juice of one orange (¼ cup)
- 4½ cups flour
- 1 cup Marburger buttermilk
Directions:
- Cream butter and sugar
- Add eggs and beat well
- Stir in orange juice.
- Sift dry ingredients then add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk
- Drop by tablespoon on baking sheet
- Bake @ 350° for 8-10 minutes or until lightly brown. Cool
Icing:
- Mix well and beat until smooth: 4 cup powdered sugar; 2 tsp butter, melted; juice of one orange
Nutmeg Loaf
Ingredients:
- ½ cup butter
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 egg
- 1 cup Marburger buttermilk
- 2 cups flour
- ½ tsp baking soda
Directions:
- Grease and flour a 9x5 loaf pan
- Cream butter and sugar until light
- Beat in egg
- Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk
- Pour in prepared pan
- Bake at 350° for 45-50 minutes or until pick come out clean
- Cool 5 minutes, then flip onto wire rack to cool completely
Mom’s Jello Salad
Ingredients:
- 2 box Jello (lemon and raspberry)
- 2 c hot water
- 1 can pineapple, in juice
- 1lb Marburger cottage cheese
Directions:
- Dissolve Jello in water
- Add remaining ingredients and chill until set (several hours)
Buttermilk Ranch Dressing
Ingredients:
- ½ gallon Marburger buttermilk
- ½ gallon mayonnaise
- 3.2 oz pkg dry ranch dressing mix
Directions:
- Mix together until smooth and creamy
- Store in closed container in fridge
Mashed Potatoes Yield: 6 servings
Ingredients:
- 1½lb potatoes, peeled, quartered, cooked
- ½ cup Marburger buttermilk
- ¼ cup Marburger milk
- 2 tsp butter
Directions:
- Add ingredients, whip with electric mixer until smooth and creamy
- Salt and pepper to taste
Buttermilk Waffles
Ingredients:
- 1 cup flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 egg, separated
- ¾ tsp baking powder
- ¾ cup Marburger buttermilk
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ¼ cup butter, melted
Directions:
- Mix and sift dry ingredients
- Beat egg white until stiff
- Add yolk to buttermilk and beat until blended
- Make a well in dry ingredients
- Pour in buttermilk and egg yolk mixture
- Stir slightly
- Pour in melted butter
- Mix quickly just to moisten
- Fold in egg white
- Bake on hot waffle iron
